District Cricket Update
The first of the three District Cricket days took place over last weekend when all four matches were played in warm sunshine.
The Under 11′s match was played at King’s School at Bruton, the Under 12′s at Taunton Prep School, the Under 13′s were at Taunton School whilst the Under 14′s played at Nailsea Cricket Club.
In the Under 11′s it was the Tigers who beat the Lions by 21 runs. Batting first the Tigers were all out for 173 thanks to 50 from James Rew and Joe Eckland who hit 32. In reply the Lions were dismissed for 152, of which Donald Corbett hit 60, while Joe Seymour took four wickets.
The Lions triumphed by 42 runs in the Under 12 age group. Batting first the Lions scored 202 for five, Jacob Hockey making 32, Reyhan Taraq making an unbeaten 42 and Charlie McCraig not out 39. The Tigers in reply made 160 all out with William Chesterman making 35.
The Lions won the Under 13′s game at Taunton School by seven wickets. The Tigers made 144 for six batting first thanks to Ben Spink who scored 37, Will Smeed 36 and Alex Leeks 25. In reply the Lions reached 145 for three with Oscar Samuel hitting 43 and Finlay Yates an unbeaten 49.
At Under 14 level it was the Lions who won by 28 runs. Batting first the Lions posted 191 for three from their overs, thanks to Will South who made 53 before retiring, Charley Reed who retired on 50 retired and Nathan Gregg who hit an unbeaten 38. The Tigers in reply were bowled out for 163 of which Cameron Harding made 52 before he retired.
This weekend’s fixtures will see Lions take on Panthers.
The Under 11 game will be played at Millfield Prep School, the Under 12′s at Wellington School, the Under 13′s at Taunton School and the Under 14′s at Nailsea CC.
