Honours even in 2nd XI T20 clash
Somerset Second XI were in action at Bristol today where they faced Gloucestershire in two T20 matches.
In the first match Gloucestershire elected to field after winning the toss and Somerset lost two early wickets to leave them on 28 for 2. However, 71 off just 46 balls for captain Max Waller plus 29 from Eddie Byrom and 25 from George Dockrell ensured that Somerset posted a competitive total of 152 for 6. In reply Gloucestershire struggled to come to terms with the Somerset bowlers and only Ian Cockbain (32) offered any real resistance. Gloucestershire reached 135 for 9 from their allotted overs as Somerset won by 17 runs. Dockrell was the pick of the visiting bowlers with 4 for 15 whilst there were two wickets apiece for Waller and Alfonso Thomas.

Gloucestershire once again won the toss ahead of the second match but this time elected to bat. Cameron Herring was the pick of the home batsmen as he made 58 not out after his side had slumped to 26 for 3. Two wickets from Craig Overton and one each for Alfonso Thomas, Josh Davey, Calvin Harrison and Dockrell ensured that the hosts were restricted to 146 for 7 from their 20 overs. In reply Waller once again top scored for Somerset but his side were dismissed for 99 as Gloucestershire triumphed by 47 runs.

The Somerset 2nd XI are next in action on Wednesday when they take on Worcestershire at Taunton Vale in two T20 Friendly matches.
