Somerset Seconds v Gloucestershire (Day One)
An unbeaten century from Tom Abell meant that Somerset 2nd XI ended the first day of their two-day friendly against Gloucestershire 2nd XI on top.
Play got underway at Taunton Vale 11am this morning (Wednesday) and having won the toss Somerset put the visitors in.
Gloucestershire made a solid start and put on 53 for the first wicket but 2 quick wickets for Ollie Sale helped reduce the visitors to 59/3. At lunch Gloucestershire had reached 81/5 off 31 overs.
After the break the Somerset bowlers really began to turn the screw and Gloucestershire were eventually dismissed for 139. Jack Leach was the pick of the bowlers with 3 for 18 whilst Sale finished with 2 for 18. Josh Davey also took 2 wickets and there was a wicket each for George Dockrell, Max Waller and Liam Redrup.
Gloucestershire made an early breakthrough as Waller was dismissed for 0 with the score on 1. However, Abell put in a great display with the bat to eventually finish the day unbeaten on 129. James Regan also played well for his 62 and at the close of play Somerset had moved on to 237 for 3 which is a lead of 98.
Day two will commence at 11am.
