Scoreboard and PA Update from CEO Guy Lavender
Dear Members and Supporters,
I thought it appropriate to write to you following the failure of the main scoreboard and the continued issues with the ground sound system experienced during our first T20 home fixture.
As you may be aware, these two areas have been continually problematic over several years despite investing considerable resource and external expertise. Personally, the current situation is extremely frustrating, embarrassing and completely unsatisfactory and I take full responsibility for that failure and apologise unreservedly.
In the circumstances, I thought it appropriate to update you on how we are seeking to manage and resolve the ongoing issues, namely:
- We have engaged Bob Kronman (Kronman Associates), who is an expert on screens and installations with vast experience within sport and the commercial sector right across the world. He has examined the system and concluded that there are no major obvious issues, however there are a number of short term measures that should improve reliability which have been implemented for Sunday. We shall continue to engage Bob’s services whilst we resolve the issues at hand and make further improvements for the future.
- We continue to have a screen technician from Maritime Group, the installers of the main screen on site for our major matches to respond quickly to any issues that emerge.
- We have engaged Chris Puxley (Puxley Ltd), a specialist provider of sound for major live events. He has conducted an evaluation of the sound system and will implement a plan to install stand-alone speakers across the ground to improve the clarity, volume control and consistency of sound quality for Sunday. I am confident that you will hear a significant improvement.
Internally, there are a whole range of operational measures that have been implemented to try and achieve reliability and limit the chances of further issues emerging.
I am completely aware of how critical these matters are to you our members and supporters. Resolving these issues is my core priority at the moment and we are doing everything we can to deliver a stable and consistent system within the County Ground.
