Middlesex 2nd XI v Somerset 2nd XI: Results
Somerset Second XI were in action today when they played two T20 games against Middlesex at Merchant Taylors’ School.
The first match got under way at 11:30am with Somerset winning the toss and electing to bat.
Openers Adam Hose and James Regan put on 77 for the opening wicket before both were dismissed within the space of three balls in the ninth over to leave Somerset on 77 for 2. Captain Max Waller made 31 and 25* from George Bartlett ensured that Somerset reached 151 for 5 from their 20 overs.
In reply Middlesex made a solid start as Ryan Higgins and Nick Gubbins saw the scoreboard to 34 before the latter was caught by Hose from the bowling of Ben Green. Unfortunately for Somerset that was the only Middlesex wicket to fall as Higgins (77*) and Andrew Balbirnie (51*) saw the home side to 155 for 1 and the win by 9 wickets.

Middlesex won the toss ahead of the second match and elected to bat. Gubbins made 47 before being run out by Alex Barrow whilst Ollie Rayner scored 43 to help the home side reach 164 for 6. Adam Dibble was the pick of the Somerset bowlers as he claimed 2 wickets from his four overs.
In reply Somerset lost two early wickets and despite 47 from 34 balls for Max Waller they were not able to keep up with the required run rate and were all out for 117 from 16.3 overs as Middlesex won by 47 runs.
