Players give their backing to Somerset Pink Ladies
The Somerset cricketers were on hand earlier this week to give their full backing to County Ground colleagues Lisa Brown and Sarah Trunks who are taking part in a 5k sponsored Pretty Muddy run in aid of Cancer Research Race for Life at Cheltenham Racecourse on July 11th.
Lisa, who is the finance manager and Sarah, who is the online manager at Somerset CCC are both going outside their comfort zone because this is the first ever event of it’s kind that they are taking part in.
To prepare for their big day the Somerset duo have joined Taunton Running Club and can be seen regularly pounding the streets to make sure that they are ready for what lies ahead.
Lisa said: “I have never done any running before but when my Aunty said that she was taking part in this event with the ‘Crazie Birds’ I decided to join her and signed Sarah up as well. Now we are training three times a week.”
Sarah said: “Running is a first for me, I have had a couple of setbacks but Ian Brewer the former Somerset Physio, and his team at The Crescent Clinic have really helped keep me on the road.
“Everyone at the Club have been really supportive towards raising money for this great cause. In particular we would both like to thank Richard Brice at Somerset County Sports who is donating half of the proceeds made from Chris Gayle’s signed shirt which he is raffling in the Club shop.”
The Somerset Pink Ladies tried on their sponsored kit earlier this week but soon found themselves hijacked by some of the players.
Anyone who would like to sponsor the Somerset Pink Ladies can do so by logging onto their JustGiving page: http://www.justgiving.com/
Alternatively, you can enter the raffle via Somerset County Sports and be in with the chance of winning a signed shirt from the #WorldBoss!
