Taunton Area Ladies Day a Great Success!
The Taunton Area Royal Ascot Ladies Day event at the County Ground on Thursday was a great success and enjoyed by everyone who attended.
Starting with a red carpet welcome and a champagne reception in the Long Room the new record number of 160 guests all dressed in their finery then enjoyed a buffet lunch including strawberries and cream, before settling down to enjoy the racing on the big screen.
Organized and run by Bob Payne guests had the chance to bid for the runners in several of the races and also to have a wager on the hugely popular tote.
Mary Elworthy, the Taunton Area Secretary said: “This was the 10th year that we have run this event and it was the biggest and best we have ever had. The food was as lovely as it always is and everybody who was there really enjoyed themselves.
May added: “The Taunton Area Committee would like to thank everybody who helped in any way to make the afternoon such a wonderful occasion especially the generous donators of the strawberries and potatoes.”
The event raised a new record amount of £2,900 that will go towards Club funds.
The next Taunton Area event is their Annual Barbeque that is taking place on Saturday July 4th at ‘Howzat’ in Fitzhead starting at 7.30pm.
Andy Caddick will be Head Chef, and tickets for what is always a most enjoyable occasion costs just £4 and are available from the Main Office at the County Ground or by calling Mary Elworthy on 01823 400679.
