Mixed fortunes for Somerset duo in T20 World Cup qualifiers
Josh Davey and George Dockrell enjoyed mixed fortunes in their games for Scotland and Ireland in the semi finals of the ICC World Twenty20 qualifiers this weekend.
In the first of the two semi finals Josh hit the winning runs to help Scotland to beat Hong Kong by five wickets with 46 balls to spare to reach the final. Hong Kong batted first and were all out for 119 in 19.4 overs. Josh taking one for 40 from his 3.4 overs. Scotland replied with 117 for five off 12.2 overs, Josh hitting an unbeaten four.
The second of the semi finals saw disappointment for George and Ireland against Netherlands as they went down by five wickets with 11 balls remaining.
Ireland were all out for 128 in 19.5 overs, of which George made an unbeaten eight, Roelof van der Merwe, who will be joining Somerset next season, took one for 21. In reply the Netherlands reached 129 for five with 11 balls to spare. George bowled his four overs for 36 runs.
Scotland and the Netherlands will share the trophy after the final was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to the weather. Ireland finished third after their play off with Hong Kong was also washed out.
