Kent Spitfires v Somerset NatWest T20 Blast: Preview
Somerset return to white ball action tomorrow evening (Friday) when they face Kent Spitfires in the NatWest T20 Blast at Canterbury where the game starts at 7pm.
With four games remaining Somerset are currently in eighth place in the South Group, while the hosts top the table.
To give ourselves a chance of qualifying for a place in the last eight of the competition we need to win all of the remaining matches in the competition. Something that Matt Maynard is well aware of. “Every game is important,” he said. “We have to look to try and win all four of our remaining matches to make sure that we qualify for the quarter finals. To do that we need to get out of the power play with the ball and with the bat because that has cost us big time.
“If we can get out of those first six overs in good shape we tend to win the matches. It’s when we struggle there that it tends to cost us. We have had a chat about it and we have put a system in place. “Kent are flying high in the competition and we know only too well that they are a dangerous side after their performance down here against us so we will have to be at our best.”
The Somerset squad for this match is: Jim Allenby, Johann Myburgh, Peter Trego, James Hildreth, Tom Cooper, Luke Ronchi (wk), Lewis Gregory, Tim Groenewald, Abdur Rehman, Max Waller, Alfonso Thomas (c), Jamie Overton.
