Somerset v Worcestershire: Royal London One-Day Cup Preview
Somerset will be looking to notch up the first win in our 2015 Royal London One-Day Cup campaign tomorrow (Friday) when we entertain Worcestershire at the County Ground, Taunton where the game gets underway at 10.30am.
On Wednesday a young Somerset side put up a good show against a strong Durham XI, but just missed out despite a century from Tom Cooper and an excellent spell of bowling from Jack Leach.
Leach received a lot of praise after claiming one for 39 from 10 overs, however the left arm spinner wants to be on the winning side against Worcestershire. “We need to win our game on Friday after a disappointing result against Durham,” he said. “They played well but we want to be winning games, starting with Friday. It was great to be back out there in front of a good home crowd. I love playing here and it gets me going. I was happy with the way I bowled and it’s just a shame that it didn’t contribute a win because that’s what you want to see.”
Jack added: “Now we need to win as many games as possible and hopefully we can qualify for the quarter finals. We would all love to get through to the final at Lord’s in September.”
Opponents Worcestershire took a point from their opening match which was rained off and are playing against Yorkshire at New Road today (Thursday).
Somerset have named the following squad for the match: Jim Allenby (capt), Tom Abell, Michael Bates, Tom Cooper, Lewis Gregory, Tim Groenewald, James Hildreth, Adam Hose, Jack Leach, Craig Overton, Jamie Overton, Peter Trego and Max Waller.
