Somerset Women beat Ireland in low scoring T20 game
The weather washed out one of the two T20 matches that Somerset Women were due to play at Bath Cricket Club at the weekend, but they triumphed over Ireland in the match that they were able toplay.
After being put into bat at North Parade the hosts found themselves in trouble at four for three but they recovered to post 96 for seven of which Nicole Richards hit a valuable 28.
When Ireland replied they were limited to 88 for six off their 20 overs thanks to two wickets for 12 runs for Moira Comfort as Somerset won by eight runs.
Afterwards vice captain Sophie Luff said: “ It’s not the first time this season we have defended a low total and the belief the team have to do that at the moment is great.”
Sophie added: “Our bowlers have been exceptional and the fielding unit has really backed them up.”
Somerset Women’s next game is on Sunday 19th July when they host Scotland in the 50 over format at Brislington Cricket Club.
