Somerset Seconds in Semi-Final Action tomorrow
Somerset Seconds play their biggest game of the season so far when they host Durham on Friday at Taunton Vale in the semi final of the 50 over Trophy competition starting at 11am.
The young Second XI side has enjoyed considerable success in all formats of the game this season and will be hoping to keep to reach the final that will be played next Thursday.
Looking ahead to the match Second XI coach Steve Snell said: “I am really excited for the guys and it’s all about opportunities to play in a semi final. Given Somerset’s history of not quite getting over the line in one day cricket in the last few years its great to see how these guys perform under pressure.
“We will be keeping with our young players and giving them opportunities at the top of the order with bat and ball. It would be really nice to get to the final but at this level its about giving young players like Tim Rouse and Eddie Byrom an opportunity to play in really competitive situations, which is great.
Snell added: ”It’s disappointing that we haven’t been able to pick George Bartlett who has done well, because he has been away for a couple of weeks.”
The other Second XI Trophy semi final is between Derbyshire and Surrey.
