Stumpy looking to do the Double!
A number of Somerset fans have been contacting the club regarding the whereabouts of Stumpy who seems to have been missing from the County Ground scene since the end of the Nat West T20 Blast games ended.
However we can now exclusively reveal that since he made his last appearance at the County Ground, Stumpy has been hiding in deepest darkest Somerset busily preparing for the 2015 Mascot Race that will be taking place at Edgbaston on Saturday afternoon.
Last year Stumpy not only took part in the race but he stormed to the front and ran out the winner- the first time that Somerset have won since the Mascot Race was introduced.
Speaking on behalf of Somerset’s mascot hero Rob his very own personal trainer, who left the club to join the Metropolitan Police last autumn but has returned to help Stumpy to retain his National T20 Mascot Race title said: “Since I left the Club I have had a very busy schedule, but when I heard that Stumpy was returning to Edgbaston to defend his title at the end of this month, there was no other option that to take some time off and return to get him race fit.”
Stumpy and his personal trainer Rob will he heading north up the M5 motorway on Saturday morning, probably long before anybody else makes their way to Edgbaston, but if you do catch a glimpse of him please give him a wave.
Anyone who is going along to Finals Day on Saturday please don’t forget to shout and cheer for Stumpy – after all he won the trophy that Somerset achieved in 2015 and is looking to make it a double!
