Under 19 T20 Finals Day
Twelve teams featuring some of the region’s finest young players will compete for the NatWest Under 19 Club T20 County Final on Sunday.
The format will see four groups of three teams fighting it out in the morning. The winner of each group will contest the semi-finals after lunch with the winners of those matches making it through to the evening’s grand final.
The initiative, which has been introduced as a result of the recent National Playing Survey, is designed to keep young players from drifting away from the game and will take place across the four pitches at Uphill Castle CC & Weston Super Mare CC, which are situated a mere 100 yards apart.
A total of 24 teams entered the competition, which so far has seen just over 400 14-19 year olds take part. Matches have been played with coloured kits, pink balls, music, “hit me zones”, BBQs, bars and dugouts which clubs have introduced to bring their grounds to life.
The following teams have qualified for finals day and have been drawn in the following groups:
|Castle Thunder||Westland Whirlwinds||Glastonbury Thorns||Wellington Warriors|
|Perrott Monkeys||“The Saints”Taunton St Andrews||Timsbury Miners||Deane Diamonds|
|Wembdon Renegades||Nailsea Rouges||Crewkerne Crusaders||Weston Super Kings|
Group games begin at 10am with the semi-finals at 3.30pm followed by the final at 6pm.
As well as the exciting cricket action there will also be all manner of other elements to the day including: music, interactive crowd competitions, cricketing activities, bars, food outlets, match-day programme, cricket shop and give-aways.
To assist with the availability of parking there will be spaces available close by at Broadoak College (BS23 4NP) from 9.00am up until 9.00pm when the facility will be locked.
Entry is free so come along and enjoy the entertainment!
