Fundraisers visit the County Ground
Two fundraisers visited the County Ground today (Friday) as part of a special cricket themed challenge.
Neil Brown and Paul Cox have set themselves the target of visiting all 18 First Class County grounds in just 36 hours in a bid to raise money for Bowel Cancer UK and the Down’s Syndrome Association.
“We came together about 18 months ago and wanted to help two charities that are very close to our hearts,” said Neil. “The original plan was to go to all 18 grounds in a 24 hour period, but we quickly realised that wouldn’t be possible and was a ridiculous idea! We decided that 36 hours was a much more sensible time frame and on day one we manged to get to 10 counties. We are focusing on the southern counties today and hope to be at Lord’s later this evening.”
Paul is delighted by how well the journey has gone so far: “We have raised a lot of money and awareness so far and we have been welcomed with open arms at all the grounds. All the Clubs have been very helpful indeed and the only real problem has been the traffic!”
