First Kwik Cricket champions crowned
Ten teams battled it out at the County Ground yesterday to be crowned the champions of our first ever Kwik Cricket tournament.
After more than three hours and 25 matches it was Claims Consortium who eventually came out on top.
The event was staged to give people of all skill levels the chance to play on the hallowed turf of the County Ground and around 100 players took part in the tournament which was held in association with Francis Clark Chartered Accountants and Everys Solicitors.
After a highly competitive group stage which saw some outstanding cricket it was Claims Consortium and Francis Clark 1 who made it through to the final with the former lifting the trophy.
Sam McIntyre from our Commercial department organised the event and was delighted by how well the day went. “It couldn’t really have gone any better,” he said. “We were slightly concerned when the rain was falling this morning but the weather brightened up and we were able to get everything underway on time. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the teams and players who took part in today’s event. It was a great success and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, which is what we hoped would happen!
“I would also like to thank Sam Underdown, Eddie Byrom, Liam Redrup and Adam Hose who did a great job of umpiring. Thanks also have to go to the ground staff, Somerset Cricket Board and to the catering team for all their help on the day.”
