Louis Shaw joins the Academy
Louis Shaw, who hails from Flax Bourton in North Somerset, is the latest young player to be signed up by Somerset Academy Director Steve Snell for this coming winter.
The 16 year old batsman who also bowls off spin is a pupil at Clifton College and has grown up playing through the Somerset age groups. This summer he scored consistently well in his appearances for the County Under 16′s, during which he scored 96 against Hampshire and 97 against Wales.
After signing on the dotted line Louis said: “I am really thrilled to be joining the Somerset Academy and I’m excited about what I can do to improve my cricket.”
Looking ahead he said: “Next season I hope I will get the chance to play for Somerset Second XI and have some success with both the bat and ball for the Under 17′s. Long term I want to play for England, but in the meantime I want to play for Somerset.”
Steve Snell said: “It’s great that Louis has signed up to join the Academy and we are extremely excited about his potential. Louis is an multi dimensional player and having the opportunity to hone his skills over the winter should help fast forward his development. Louis is one of the first young cricketers for sometime from the North of Somerset to join the Academy, but hopefully there will be more in the not too distant future.”
