Pink ladies raise over £1000 for Cancer Research
Back in July of this year, two familiar faces at the County Ground took part in the Cheltenham Pretty Muddy 5k Race for Life, which raises money for Cancer Research.
Accounts Controller Lisa Brown and Online Manager Sarah Trunks both took on the challenge to help this worthwhile cause.
Family, friends and colleagues all rallied round and now that the money is in, our Pink Ladies are delighted to be able to announce that they have raised just over £1.3k for the Charity.
On submitting the money to Cancer Research, Sarah said “Cancer is one illness which will affect all of us at some point in our lives – be it directly or through family and friends. Over the last couple of years the County Ground has seen its fair share but fortunately all have been success stories so far which just goes to show what a fantastic job charities like Cancer Research do.
“When the opportunity came up to take part in the race and raise funds, Lisa and I jumped at the chance. We cannot thank you all enough for your support, particularly Somerset County Sports who donated £500 through raffling a signed Chris Gayle shirt.”
Whilst the fundraising may have come to an end, the Pink Ladies are continuing to run and have more challenges in the pipeline.
Lisa said “Taunton 10k is coming up at the end of September along with a Christmas themed 10k in December at Weston-super-Mare. Joining Taunton Running Club (The All Blacks) really made the difference and for anyone considering starting or returning to running, come and join us on our Club night on Tuesday. I promise you won’t regret it!”
