ECB Chairman to open Somerset Pavilion
The new Somerset Pavilion at the County Ground will shortly be completed and will be opened next month by Colin Graves, the Chairman of the England and Wales Cricket Board.
The new pavilion includes tiered seating at ground level, a high level elevated stand affording stunning views across the ground and beyond, hospitality boxes, plus a café bistro and a new media facility.
It has been built at a cost of £3.9M to replace the Old Pavilion that was demolished at the end of the 2014 season.
Chief Executive Guy Lavender said: “Progress on the new Somerset Pavilion is going well and we are planning to have the opening on the 20th November for invited guests and we are delighted to be able to announce that Colin Graves, the Chairman of the England and Wales Cricket Board will be down to open the building for us that evening.
“The ECB have been a key partner alongside Taunton Deane Borough Council, Barclays Bank and many individual donors in helping to deliver this project, so it is entirely appropriate that the Chairman of the National Governing Body should come down to open the building.
“We are really pleased with the way that the Somerset Pavilion is looking. It will be a magnificent addition to the County Ground and I am sure will be much enjoyed.”
The Chief Executive added: “As soon as the building is completed and we have undertaken the opening ceremony we will announce some open days for everybody to come along and tour the new building.”
