From Kingston St Mary to Lord’s for Tregs
It’s been a hectic week for Somerset 2015 beneficiary Peter Trego.
The Taunton Area Committee of Somerset County Cricket Club held a hugely successful dinner in his honour at The Swan at Kingston St Mary on Monday evening.
Following the event Peter, who is nearing the end of his special year said: “It was a great event and it went really well. A huge vote of thanks must got to Les and Lil from The Swan for shutting the pub for the evening and putting on a great spread for everyone. It was lovely to see all of the familiar faces on the Taunton Area committee turning out and enjoying themselves in a relaxed atmosphere.”
Secretary of the Taunton Area Committee Mary Elworthy said: : “It was an absolutely brilliant evening and everybody who was there thoroughly enjoyed themselves. It was good to catch up with everybody again.”
Pete’s benefit year may be nearing an end but the events are still coming thick and fast and on Thursday evening a dinner was held for him in the Long Room at Lord’s.
Before the event he said: “I am looking forward to having the Long Room all to myself! The last time I walked through the Long Room I had just scored a century and met John Cleese so if Thursday is anything like as good as that I will be a very happy man.”
Meanwhile the next Taunton Area event is the Traditional Christmas Carol Lunch that is taking place at the County Ground on Thursday December 10th when they will be joined by the King’s Hall School Choir.
Tickets cost just £20 are available from Mary Elworthy on 01823 400679.
