No rest for the Catering Department
Although the cricket season has come to an end for yet another year, it’s still very much all hands to the pump for Somerset County Cricket Club’s Catering Department.
There is no winter break for Catering General Manager Sam Safe and her team as she explains: “It’s been another busy summer for everyone at the County Ground,” she said. “Although the action on the pitch has come to an end until the spring, things don’t slow down off it. Somerset County Cricket Club is in the business of cricket but cricket isn’t our only business.
“We are working all year around, whether that be cricket, conferences, meetings or Christmas parties so there is always something to keep the team and I busy. For example we have once again launched our excellent Winter Sunday Carvery and these will be running all the way through until Easter.”
As many people will know, it’s very much a family affair within our catering department as Sam is married to our Executive Chef Simon Safe. So, how do they cope working together every day? “It’s actually really good,” said Sam. “We’ve been working together for a very long time now and it seems to work. We have a great team along side us and they all do a fantastic job in helping us to deliver high quality service all year. It doesn’t matter if it’s a NatWest T20 Blast fixture or a business networking event, the team we have here are second to none.”
