Tom and Jack impress down under
Whilst the weather took a turn for the worse in the UK this weekend, a number of our players were performing well in the Southern Hemisphere sunshine.
Tom Abell has picked up where he left off at the end of the English season by scoring plenty of runs and he has also been amongst the wickets too. The 21 year old is currently lining up for Freemantle in First Grade Cricket in Western Australia and at the weekend his side welcomed Bayswater-Morley to the Stevens Reserve West Ground. Having won the toss and electing to bat, the visitors were restricted to 176 for eight from 50 overs mainly thanks to Tom who was the pick of the Freemantle bowlers with three for 24 from 10 overs. He then showed his class with the bat as he helped himself to 65 not out from 114 balls as Freemantle reached 178 for one from just 41.3 overs.
Jack Leach was also in action in Australia this weekend for Wanneroo against Mount Lawley. In a match that made headlines for Mitchell Johnson taking five for 30 for Wanneroo, Jack also claimed a wicket to finish with impressive figures of one for 25 from 10 overs.
