Weston Area AGM: Report
The Somerset CCC Weston-super-Mare Area Annual General Meeting took place at Weston super Mare Cricket Club on Wednesday evening.
Before the start of the meeting a minutes silence was held in memory of those affected by this weeks tragedy involving Uphill Castle CC.
The Area Chairman, Stephen Southwell expressed his sorrow on behalf of the Weston Area, and said that their thoughts were with the families, friends and teammates of those involved.
Somerset Chief Executive Guy Lavender also paid his respects on behalf of Somerset County Cricket Club , and said the club would offer any help needed whilst Club Chairman Andy Nash and his wife Linda, passed on their deepest and personal condolences to the bereaved and injured.
Mr Southwell began the AGM, by outlining some of the work the committee had done which included, delivering fixture posters and interacting with various establishments across the area. He covered the jackpot collection, and how the committee wanted to improve the communication of the winning tickets, which was being looked into. He also gave an update on the last years children’s cricket book which the committee helped to promote.
Director of Cricket Matt Maynard, who was at his first Area AGM, took to the floor and spoke about the playing side of the past season. He gave a review of 2015 and shared his thoughts on the season ahead. He also talked about new signings, Chris Rogers and Ryan Davies.
CEO Guy Lavender then talked about the non- playing side of things which covered the provision of floodlights, the new Somerset Pavilion, the scoreboard and the PA system.
The evening finished with a presentation to Club President Roy Kerslake, who was presented with an engraved glass rose bowl to mark his twelve years in the role.
Brain Rose and Peter Trego were also in attendance to support the evening.
