Where will our boys be this winter?
A large number of Somerset players will be plying their trade overseas during the coming winter, and some have already had their first games for their newly adopted clubs.
Tom Abell is in Perth, Australia where he is playing for Fremantle CC and in his first innings last weekend he scored 15 runs at the top of the order. Jack Leach is also in Perth playing for Wanneroo where he scored 10 and took one for 11 in his opening game.
Max Waller had an excellent start to his time in Cape Town, South Africa where he is playing for Milnerton and took an impressive three for 16 in his first match.
Elsewhere, Jim Allenby is in Perth where he will be playing for Claremont CC, Alex Barrow will be travelling out to New Zealand in December where he will be playing for Cornwall CC and Josh Davey will be on Scotland duty from January.
New signing Ryan Davies will be involved with England Under 19s this winter whilst Lewis Gregory is involved with the England Development Programme. He departs in November and after this he will spend time with the England Lions until Christmas. Both Craig and Jamie Overton are also involved with the EDP and depart next month before returning home in December.
Tim Groenewald, Craig Meschede and Johann Myburgh will be in South Africa where the latter will be playing for a Premier League club in Pretoria called CBC Old Boys. The returning Roleof van der Merwe is also in South Africa and will be on Netherlands duty in January.
Regular updates will be posted on this website regarding the progress of the Somerset players who are overseas this winter.
