Somerset players performing well overseas
The Somerset stars who are spending the winter overseas have once again been performing well.
Jamie Overton had his most eventful day in an England shirt as he smashed a half century as the England Lions lost their second 50-over warm-up match against the United Arab Emirates in Dubai. Jamie finished unbeaten on 57 from 35 balls, hitting 22 off the last over including five consecutive boundaries but it wasn’t quite enough to prevent his side going down by two wickets with two balls to spare.
Tom Abell continued his fine form in Australia for Fremantle as he made 112 not out from 98 balls against Mount Lawley District CC. The 21 year old also took five catches in the match.
In New Zealand Alex Barrow helped Cornwall to a comprehensive victory over Suburbs New Lynn as he made 41 in his side’s total of 226 for seven.
Elsewhere, Ryan Davies made 45 from just 27 balls for the England Under 19′s in their ICC World Cup warm up win over South Africa in Dubai. England made a total of 260 for eight in the 50 over match during which George Bartlett also did well with the bat as he made 32 and shared a fourth wicket stand of 84 with Callum Taylor of Essex. England won the match by 125 runs.
