2nd XI T20: Hampshire v Somerset
Somerset Second XI shared the spoils with their Hampshire counterparts in two T20 matches at the Ageas Bowl today.
In the opening encounter Hampshire won the toss and elected to bat.
Tom Alsop and Jake Goodwin put on 57 for the first wicket before the later was caught by Alex Barrow from the bowling of Michael Leask for 29. Leask then claimed the other opener for 25, trapping him lbw. The Scottish international then claimed his third wicket when Joe Weatherley was caught by Max Waller for 18 as Hampshire reached 98 for three. Johann Myburgh then accounted for Aaron West for one but 48 not out from Lewis McManus and 37 not out from Ryan Stevenson helped the home side to 171 for four from their allotted overs.
In reply Somerset’s batsmen struggled to get momentum and slipped to 87 for eight but an impressive 45 not out from Dom Bess from just 34 balls kept them in the game. Unfortunately for the visitors they fell just short and finished on 159 for eight from their 20 overs to give Hampshire the win by just 12 runs.

The second match saw Hampshire win the toss and elect to bat again. This time Somerset restricted the home side to 151 for five, Weatherley top scoring with 53 whilst Myburgh was the pic of the Somerset bowlers as he claimed two for 16 from his four overs.
It proved to be a good match for Myburgh who top scored in the Somerset innings with an impressive 77 not out from just 51 balls as he helped his side to an eight wicket victory. He was well supported by George Bartlett (39) and Leask who made 34 not out.
