Skating On Thin Ice
As many of our supporters will be aware, the outfield at the Cooper Associates County Ground was dug up this winter with new drainage lines and pumps being installed, along with a new high-tech sprinkler system.
Whilst this will clearly serve a purpose as we step closer to International cricket, here at Somerset County Cricket Club, we realise it is of paramount importance to be at the forefront of the Community all year round.
With this in mind, we combined the forces of two companies and are absolutely delighted with the results! Not only do we now have a World Class drainage system in place, we are delighted to announce that we have installed both cooling and sprinkler systems to turn the Cooper Associates County Ground into a festive ice rink over the Christmas period!
Mr Hoarfrost from IcePix was delighted to be involved with a project of this scale; “When Somerset approached us with this idea; we were really keen to get involved. Combining our knowledge and skill with MJ Abbott and Ocmis, we have managed to produce something really special in the heart of Taunton, and it just shows what a forward-thinking Club this is.”
Operations Manager Sally Donoghue will be one of the first people to take to the ice; “I cannot wait, we have previously explored options of bringing in portable ice-rinks but due to space and cost, it’s just not been feasible. Now, we have our own ready-made 60m ice rink with the push of a button and we hope those in Taunton and beyond will enjoy making use of these facilities this winter.”
