2nd XI: Big win for Somerset
Somerset prepared for tomorrows 2nd XI T20 Finals Day in fine style with a big win over Yorkshire at Headingley.
Yorkshire resumed on 30 without loss on the final day of this three-day Championship match which meant that Somerset still led by 394 runs.
By lunch Paul van Meekeren and Ollie Sale had claimed two wickets each as the host reached 149 for four at the break needing a further 276 for victory.
After lunch van Meekeren claimed two more victims to finish with figures of four for 38 whilst Ollie Sale took three for 38 as Somerset dismissed the home side for 233 to wrap up a win by 191 runs.

Yorkshire resumed on five for one when play gets underway on day two of this three-day Second XI Championship match.
The home side are replying to the Somerset total of 359 for six declared.
The scored had moved to 56 before Josh Davey accounted for Ben Ainsley courtesy of a catch by Michael Leask. Ben Green then celebrated his call up to the England Under 19 squad by claiming the wicket of Ryan Gibson for 55 thanks to a catch from Davey. There were also wickets before lunch for Dom Bess and Roelof van der Merwe as Yorkshire reached 141 for five at the break.
After lunch the five remaining Yorkshire wickets fell for just 10 runs as the home side were dismissed for 151. Van der Merwe was the pick of the Somerset bowlers as he took three for four from nine overs. Ollie Sale also claimed three wickets for just 33 runs from 13 overs whilst Dom Bess took for 22 and there was a wicket each for Josh Davey and Ben Green.
Batting for a second time Somerset made 216 for seven before declaring with a lead of 424. Adam Hose top scored with 68 whilst George Bartlett made 59 and Michael Leask added a rapid 31.
By the close of play the hosts had reached 30 without loss with Somerset still leading by 394
Somerset Second XI began a three-day Championship match against their Yorkshire counterparts at Heckmondwike Sports Club today.
The Somerset side was captained by Roelof ver der Merwe and included paceman Ollie Sale who returned after recovering from a stress fracture of the back which has kept him out of action for 10 months.
After a lengthy rain delay, Somerset were put into bat and openers Adam Hose and Tim Rouse put on 40 for the first wicket. Unfortunately this soon became 44 for three. However, a 204 run fourth wicket partnership between van der Merwe and George Bartlett put Somerset in the driving seat. The partnership was eventually broken when van der Merwe was dismissed for 111 and Bartlett eventually made 106. Josh Davey also made a half century as Somerset reached 359 for six before declaring.
Ollie Sale claimed an early wicket on his return from injury as the home side reached the close of play on five for one.
