Tim receives his County Cap
Tim Groenewald is enjoying his best summer with Somerset since joining from Derbyshire midway through the 2014 campaign.
To date in 2016 the 32 year old has claimed 28 wickets at 28.75 in the Specsavers County Championship in addition to which in the Royal London Cup he has 15 wickets at 22.87. In addition Tim has also made vital runs with the bat.
In recognition of Tim’s achievements this year he was presented with his County Cap ahead of the start of play of Somerset’s Specsaver County Championship match against Durham, something about which he is very proud. “It’s a huge honour to receive my county cap,” he said. “It was even more special that one of the club’s greatest bowlers of all time in Andy Caddick presented me with it. I’m really pleased with how the season has gone so far, it’s great to contribute in what will hopefully be a successful season for the club.”
This all came at the end of a week when Tim was selected to play for the South against the North in the three match series in the United Arab Emirates next March, which he earned by being one of the top four England-qualified players in the region in this season’s Professional Cricketers’ Association Most Valuable Player Rankings.
