Two year deal for van Meekeren
Somerset County Cricket Club have signed Dutch international bowler Paul van Meekeren on a two year contract.
The 23 year old, who has played in 15 IT20′s and two ODI’s for the Netherlands, initially joined Somerset on a three month contract after impressing for the Second XI.
Paul made his Somerset debut in the three-day Tourist Match against Pakistan and appeared in both the NatWest T20 Blast and the Royal London One Day Cup.
Regarding his contract Paul said: “It’s great to have signed a contract with Somerset and I hope to develop my game more while I am here at the Club. I will be going home for a few weeks at the end of the season and then I will report back here with the rest of the squad for winter training later in the autumn, which I am really looking forward to.
“I had a few games for the Second XI and got some wickets before getting my chance in the First team which I really enjoyed.”
Somerset Director of Cricket Matt Maynard said: “Paul is an exciting young bowling talent who we are delighted to have signed for Somerset. In the games that he has played for us he has shown that he offers something a little bit different and we look forward to having him here with us for at least the next two seasons.”
