Chief Executive Officer:

Somerset County Cricket Club (SCCC) is well established as one of the leading professional cricket clubs in the UK. Recent performances demonstrate that the club can compete at the very highest level in all formats of the game while continuing to develop young talent, many of whom have already earned representative honours. This success and development has been matched off the field with ground improvements earning the club the privilege of hosting international cricket this year. Taken together, Somerset is an enviably successful club.

Guy Lavender has overseen the club’s development over the last 6 years and following his richly deserved move to MCC, we are now looking for his successor. The successful individual will lead a dedicated team to build on the club’s strong performance and heritage. This is a high profile role within the professional game and also locally, with a strong Membership and highly loyal support that underpins ongoing financial success. This is, therefore, a unique opportunity to lead an excellent professional sports club and to build Somerset’s long term success.

Somerset is a Members’ club and while this provides a stable structure, such a business requires a leader capable of building consensus across a range of stakeholders including the ECB, broadcasters and sponsors as well as members and supporters.

The CEO is responsible for all aspects of the club and must be capable of supporting the Director of Cricket to maximise team performance and results. Alongside this, the CEO will lead the club to focus on delivering high value entertainment, a welcoming environment for all and maximising commercial income and, with the Chairman, managing the development of the business within the agreed financial guidelines. Maintaining and developing the relationship with the ECB will be a key element of this role in order to achieve the most positive outcomes for Somerset at the beginning of a period that will see some fundamental changes to domestic cricket.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about sport, commercially astute and customer orientated.

Your track record will be one of progressive achievement at Director level and your leadership credentials must be exemplary. Your success will be characterised by the delivery of challenging commercial and strategic goals through innovation and stakeholder engagement.

This enticing leadership role carries a competitive package in line with your desire and ambition. You will have the full support of a progressive committee that seeks to build on the Club’s track record and profile within the game to ensure that the challenges and opportunities of the future are capitalised upon. Somerset will continue to develop skills and personal horizons; players are encouraged and developed to play for England. The same goes for the CEO and they will be supported to take the Club forward on all fronts.

If you have a track record of leadership and commercial success and relish this challenge, please send your CV including salary details to: peter.tucker@novoexec.com
