NatWest T20 Blast Opponents: Hampshire Ones to Watch

With the 2017 NatWest T20 Blast now well underway we are continuing our look at which teams will be coming to the Cooper Associates County Ground this summer.

Our third home match in the competition is on Wednesday July 26th when we welcome Hampshire to Taunton.

SHAHID AFRIDI

Hampshire have signed the big hitting all-rounder for a third spell after impressing in the competition in both 2011 and 2016.

The 37 year old has a wealth of experience and has featured in 98 IT20 matches scoring 1405 runs and taking 97 wickets. In his other 248 T20 matches he has scored 3574 runs and taken 263 wickets.

JAMES VINCE

The Hampshire Club captain is considered to be one of the best domestic batsman in the short form of the game.

He has featured in five It20s for England scoring 163 runs at an average of 32.60.

He has played in a further 125 T20 matches scoring over 3200 runs at an average of 29.75

MICHAEL CARBERRY

The cricket community as a whole was delighted to see Michael Carberry return to the Hampshire side earlier this year after receiving treatment for cancer.

The 36 year old big-hitting left-hander has featured in 141 T20 matches scoring over 3600 runs at an average 31.46 with a best of 100*.

Somerset and Hampshire have faced each other on 13 occasions in T20 cricket. Somerset currently have the upper hand having won seven matches to Hampshire’s five. There has also been one abandonment.
