100 Days To Go!
The winter hasn’t been quite so bad for Somerset fans suffering withdrawal symptoms from cricket so far, because they have had the fortunes of Craig Overton to follow in the Ashes.
Normally once the season is over, the closed season is a long time to cope with no live cricket to watch at the Cooper Associates County Ground. The first landmark of any winter to look forward to is the publication of the next season’s fixtures. Once these are to hand travel plans and hotel booking for the forthcoming season can be made.
Christmas also offers a welcome break from the yearning for live cricket on the hallowed turf in Taunton to watch.
Once the festive season is over and the decorations have been taken down the nights start to creep out and the start of the season begins to come onto the horizon.
With the Ashes series now over, overseas attention now turns to the U19’s Cricket World Cup, with strong Somerset representation in the England squad. We wish Tom Banton, Tom Lammonby and Fin Trenouth all the very best as they compete in the tournament.
Today marks another landmark in the countdown to the 2018 season because it is exactly 100 days until Somerset begin their opening Specsavers Division One County Championship match against Worcestershire at Taunton on Friday April 20th.
There is a double dose of four day cricket early on this season because following the Worcestershire game Somerset then host Yorkshire which gets underway a week later on April 27th.
Don’t forget that you can catch all the action at the Cooper Associates County Ground in 2018 with Membership!
