After playing his early cricket for Surrey and Hampshire, James has progressed through the Somerset Academy and played for the Seconds since 2011.
He made his First Class debut for Somerset against Cardiff MCCU in the opening match of the season at Taunton Vale in 2012. James then kept wicket for part of the two day game against South Africa in July.
James is spending the winter of the 2012-13 playing cricket in Tasmania.
