A former England Under 19 wicket-keeper, Ryan Davies joined Somerset from Kent on a three-year contract and made his debut in all competitions in 2016.

He played up through the age groups and joined the Kent Cricket Academy as a 13-year-old before signing a contract for the 2015 season after Geraint Jones left for Gloucestershire.

Ryan made his First Class debut for Kent against Derbyshire in June 2015 and went on to play in five First Class matches in which he took nine catches played in three NatWest T20 Blast matches claiming four catches and a stumping.

In his first season with Somerset, Ryan played in 15 First Class matches and after a disappointing start with the bat in the latter part of the season played several crucial innings scoring 380 runs at 21.11 including three half centuries and a best of 86.

Behind the stumps Ryan made 33 first class dismissals- 27 catches and six stumpings.
