  • Work Inspiration Placements

Our Work Inspiration Placements are for students of compulsory school-age who need to complete 1 or 2 weeks of work experience.

We have reframed the traditional approach to ‘work experience’ towards a Work Inspiration model where students gain valuable insight and understanding of the workplace. Students can look forward to a positive experience with us which includes:

    • Provision of good quality information
    • Provision of experiential learning
    • Training and mentoring
    • Provision of opportunity to participate in project work if relevant
    • Opportunity to practically apply learning

To provide value and ensure equal opportunities, we use an application procedure for placements which is similar to our process for paid positions. We ask all students to complete an application form and email to people@somersetcountycc.co.uk. If we can accommodate the dates, we will invite students to an informal meeting / ‘interview’ to discuss the placement and learn more about them.

Please note, we receive a large number of applications for work experience placements and due to the nature of our work, and the demands of the season we are unable to commit to all requests. The window for receipt of applications is from 1 September to 15 December for the following year. Any applications submitted after this time will not be considered. We cannot commit to any dates until we know the match fixtures for the following year.

If you need any further advice, require any support to complete the application, or participate in a placement, please contact our People Team on people@somersetcountycc.co.uk.
