Somerset County Cricket Club is one of eighteen professional First Class County Cricket Clubs in England & Wales.  It is a club deeply rooted in its community and one that offers huge reach regionally, nationally and internationally. The Cooper Associates County Ground is home to this highly successful club and as well as being a Centre of Excellence for cricket in the South-West, the venue hosts almost 50 days of cricket each year and delivers numerous conferences and events.  As a Club, we have bold ambitions both on and off the field, including the desire to inspire more people to participate in cricket and make the Cooper Associates County Ground a 365 day venue and the primary sporting and business destination in the region.

The Role – Principle Responsibilities and Tasks

Somerset County Cricket Club are recruiting for a Commercial Sales Executive to deliver revenue by selling advertising solutions to both SME’s and blue-chip companies across the UK, by driving hospitality, Membership and event revenue sales.

You will be entirely responsible for the management of clients and your own personal KPI’s. You will deliver sales results, achieving set targets whilst identifying new business opportunities through all possible routes to market; your excellent understanding of the business CRM system will ensure the system is up to date and accurate at all times. You will attend networking and other events as agreed and monitor your own success at these events. You will attend weekly sales meetings, participating and ensuring actions are acted on and reviewed accordingly.  Additionally, you will demonstrate your knowledge of advertising/sponsorship within a sporting context, selling its benefits to clients/advertisers as well as fully articulating the SCCC/Cooper Associates County Ground proposition’s relevance to all. Within the role you will effectively negotiate the best price possible for every piece of business, to work within the rate card pricing and produce and maintain a portfolio of case studies and testimonials that support the SCCC proposition.

The Skills and Knowledge

 Essential criteria:

  • 12-24 months media sales experience
  • Demonstrable experience and success in sales.
  • Driven to improve sales and activity performance beyond targets.
  • Outstanding organisation and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A self-starter, with a tenacious attitude and passion for success, who is highly resourceful and self-sufficient.
  • Effective communicator, with strong interpersonal, listening, negotiation and objection handling skills.
  • Excellent networking ability, ensuring effective relationship management.
  • Experienced in executing high quality proposal documents and emails.

This role requires good listening and communication skills to manage your own business as well as work within a team.

Somerset County Cricket Club is situated in the historical town of Taunton. A highly successful and varied sporting organisation that hosts almost 50 days of First-Class cricket, numerous Conferences and Events throughout the year as well as playing an important role in the local community. We have 6,500 Members and crowds of 7,500 supporters for some matches.

Somerset CCC is one of the 18 first class counties within the domestic cricket structure. It has a strong club ethos that promotes family values along with commitment and respect to the club and community. The club has a history of developing and promoting home grown talent, with many of our current senior and academy squad achieving international recognition.

Western Storm represent South West England and Wales as one of eight regional hubs in English domestic cricket. The team is partnered with Somerset, Gloucestershire, Devon, Cornwall, Wiltshire and Cricket Wales. Western Storm have been highly successful since their inception, winning the Women’s Super League title in 2017 and 2019.

The Role – Principle Responsibilities and Tasks

Working as part of a highly motivated Pathway team within one of the country’s leading First-Class County Clubs and the highly successful Women’s Professional team- Western Storm, Somerset County Cricket Club in partnership with Western Storm are recruiting for a Pathway Performance Analyst/Pathway coach to provide analysis performance data and footage from match environments to support the player performance and development needs. Responsibilities will include: Coding Western Storm matches, SCCC Under 18s games and other Western Storm and Pathway fixtures where appropriate as well as supporting the analysis needs of the skills coaches to enhance player development.

The Skills and Knowledge

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, motivated and have a positive attitude. They will have an ability to work both individually and as part of a team. They should have good communication and presentation skills and the ability to work with a variety of individuals ranging from players, coaches and sports science and medicine colleagues. This role will require the successful candidate to demonstrate diligence and attention to detail with regard to planning and presenting and be able to make effective use of their time within a pressurised environment.

The Role – Principle Responsibilities and Tasks

One of the country’s leading First-Class County Clubs, Somerset County Cricket Club are recruiting for Hospitality Staff to provide general hospitality support during match days.

The role will be varied from welcoming all visitors upon arrival, to providing a waiting service including preparing the dining table, beverage waiting and answering all questions about food and drink. You will also co-ordinate visitors, assist with any complaints or queries and provide the highest level of customer service to all whilst complying with all SCCC policies and procedures. The role will be part of a high performing team and we are looking for a committed, friendly yet professional individual to join our team.

Please note as this role may require handling alcohol, applicants must be 18 or over for some of the front of house roles.

  • Previous customer service/waiting experience.

Salary:                                  £18,532 per annum

The Role – Principle Responsibilities and Tasks

One of the country’s leading First-Class County Clubs, Somerset County Cricket Club are recruiting for a Seasonal grounds person to join the busy Grounds team for the 2021 Season.

The role will be to assist the Head Groundsperson and the wider team in in the preparation of all the pitches, nets and outfield of the CACG and TVSC to first class standard.  This role of Grounds Person is particularly busy on match days.

The Skills and Knowledge

Desirable qualifications for this position include

  • NVQ/Diploma level 2 in turf science /groundsmanship or equivalent; and
  • Knowledge of modern sports turf processes and innovations.

However, beyond qualifications, you’ll be committed and have the ability to work as a team member are equally important in the demanding environment where excellent results are required.
