Second XI Championship: Essex v Somerset - Day Three

DAY THREE

Somerset resumed on 121 for three, following on against Essex at Bishop Stortford on the third and final day of this Second XI Championship match.

By lunch Somerset had moved on to 243 without further loss. Eddie Byrom was unbeaten on 99 whilst Josh Davey was 57 not out.

Davey was eventually dismissed for 62 but Byrom continued to play impressively and by tea he was 136 not out as Somerset reached the interval at 322 for eight.

Somerset were eventually all out for 362. Byrom was the last man out for a superb 158.

DAY TWO

Somerset resumed on six for one on day two of this three day Championship match against Essex at Bishop Stortford.

By the time the lunch interval arrived Somerset were 123 for six with George Bartlett unbeaten on 60.

Bartlett went on to make 96 but he received little support and Somerset were dismissed for 185.

Following on Somerset lost Ben Duggan for seven with 22 runs on the board. Bartlett added 24 and Will Young made 32 before they both found themselves back in the pavilion.

By the close of play Somerset were 121 for three with Eddie Byrom unbeaten on 48.

DAY ONE

Somerset Second XI are taking on their Essex counterparts in a three-day Championship match which got underway today at Bishop Stortford.

Essex won the toss and elected to bat.

By lunch the hosts were 102 for two after recovering from 52 for two.

Centuries from Callum Taylor and Paul Walter put Essex in a strong position. Taylor was eventually caught behind for 121 but by tea the hosts had reached 337 for three.

Walter eventually made 219 not out as Essex declared on 466 for four. Mitchell Spencer claimed two for 92 and there was a wicket each for Ollie Sale and Nathan Gilchrist.

By the close of play Somerset had reached six for one in reply. Eddie Byrom was the man to go for three.
