2018 women's cricket launch - come and get involved!
Interest in women’s cricket has grown dramatically recently and over the last two years the number of cricket clubs in Somerset that run a women’s team has doubled to almost 30.
This increase has been due to several factors, including the success of the England Women’s team, which includes Western Storm and Somerset bowler Anya Shrubsole who this year will be the first woman to appear on the cover of Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack.
The Somerset Cricket Board have also run several initiatives designed to encourage more women to take up the game.
With this in mind, Saturday March 24th will see the Indoor Centre of Excellence at the Cooper Associates County Ground open its doors for a friendly, fun and social women’s only softball cricket taster session.
The new fun format is proving to be a hit and those new to the sport will have the opportunity to try it for themselves.
If you are looking to meet some new people, get active and have some fun, then softball cricket is for you.
Come along on the March 24th and see what all fuss is about!
The session starts at 1.00pm and runs until 2.30pm at the Centre of Excellence, that is situated near to the St James Entrance of the Cooper Associates County Ground.
The session will not only give those who attend an idea of what the game is like, but those who get involved will develop and learn new skills, as well as learning the location of their local club.
The session is free and all equipment is provided.
