Abu Dhabi fixtures announced
It was announced recently that Somerset would be undertaking a pre-season tour of Abu Dhabi.
The squad will be heading out in March for some outdoor training and some competitive games.
The Club will face Essex in two T20 matches, a one-day red ball game and a two-day red-ball fixture.
Head Coach, Jason Kerr is looking forward to the challenge.
“Essex are a strong outfit and that will provide us with some really competitive cricket,” he said. “At this time of year it’s all about trying to attain the necessary match sharpness and we will be giving as many opportunities to people as we can. Hopefully, those opportunities will be taken.
“As we approach the first game of the season, it’s important that we get our processes right so that we eventually get the right results.
“There’s a lot of red-ball cricket at the start of the season, but you have to adapt quickly to changes in format due to the nature of the season, so it’s important that we hone our skills across both red-ball and white-ball cricket when we can.
“Obviously, we’ve had a lot of guys who have been appearing all over the world in various tournaments this winter, so it’s really exciting that the vast majority of the squad will be together for this trip. That will certainly help us to paint a clearer picture of how we are going to approach the season as a unit. That is certainly going to be one of our primary focuses.”Back to News
