Alterations to Pre-Season Friendlies
There have been a number of alterations to our pre-season friendlies due to the recent poor weather.
The two T20 matches between Somerset and Gloucestershire that were scheduled for Monday March 19th at the Cooper Associates County Ground have now been cancelled.
The counties were also due to face each other in a 50-over match on the following day but the recent inclement weather has meant that this fixture is now not possible.
However, Somerset will now face Gloucestershire in a 50-over match at Bristol on March 21st starting at 11am.
The poor weather has also resulted in a venue change for the two-day match between Somerset and Worcestershire which was due to be played at Taunton Vale Sports Club on March 22nd. This match will now take place at the Cooper Associates County Ground.
Somerset Director of Cricket Andy Hurry said: “Obviously it’s hugely disappointing to have to cancel the T20 matches, but the outfield is simply too wet to allow them to go ahead. However, after discussions with Gloucestershire we have been able to move the 50-over match to Bristol albeit 24 hours later than the original fixture.
“The conditions at Taunton Vale are obviously similar, so we will be doing everything that we can to stage the Worcestershire match here at the Cooper Associates County Ground. We want to maximise the chances of this fixture taking place, so we have taken the decision to move it. We want to give ourselves the best possible chance of this fixture going ahead.”Back to News
