An evening of ABBA a great success
Cast and band members from London’s West End came together last night to bring the magic of ABBA to a sold-out Cooper Associates County Ground.
Backed by a fabulous West End band and led by former Mamma Mia’s touring musical director Richard Weeden, this one-night concert spectacular saw Jenna Lee James, Norman Bowman and Bleu Woodward bring the classic hits of ABBA to life for the appreciative audience.
Following the event Somerset CEO Andrew Cornish said: “Tonight was another fantastic event here at the Cooper Associates County Ground. We are not just about the cricket and events like this are the ideal opportunity to showcase that. It was great to see so many people, some who had never been here before, having such a great time.
“The musical acts were superb, and a huge round of applause has to go to everyone who was involved in the organisation and delivery of the event.”
The evening began with a performance by Andy Jordan. The 28-year-old singer-songwriter and creative director released his first single “Whole Lot of Water” on iTunes in 2013. The following year Andy released a music video for his song “Geography” and embarked on two sold-out nationwide tours before releasing his second EP “Another Man’s Eyes” in 2016.
Concert promoter, Malcolm Spencer said: “Bringing West End Stars to Taunton to perform ABBA’s hits has been fantastic fun and it’s been a pleasure to work with Somerset County Cricket Club on delivering this sell out concert. Everyone really enjoyed the evening and I look forward to working with the Club again in the future.”
