Archie Vaughan joins the Academy
Somerset County Cricket Club are pleased to announce that Archie Vaughan has joined the Somerset Academy.
The 15-year-old, who is attending Millfield School, has impressed during his time within the Somerset Pathway, and his performances have secured himself a place on the Club’s Academy.
After putting pen to paper, Archie said: “My time here has been really good, and I’ve been enjoying my time with the Under 15s. The goal Is to turn professional and that’s what I really want to achieve. From an early age I just wanted to play cricket, follow my own path and see where that takes me.
“In the next few years, I want to keep on improving my game. I see myself as a batting spinner. I started bowling off spin this year and it’s been coming out quite nicely.
“I’ve got a good school and good coaches around me, and I really want to make the most of this opportunity.”
SCCC Head of Talent Pathway, Steve Snell is looking forward to working with Archie. “We are delighted to welcome Archie on to the Somerset Academy,” he said. “Archie has been part of our training programme and has represented the Under 15s and Under 18s throughout the season. During that time, he has shown significant promise with bat and ball, positively influencing a number of games.
“Archie has impressed all of the staff with his determination and attitude, and we are looking forward to working more with him in the future. I’m sure he will make the most of this fantastic opportunity and I’m looking forward to working with him further and watching him develop.”
