Big win for Somerset Disabled CC
Somerset Disabled Cricketers travelled to play their Dorset counterparts at Weymouth last weekend in a 30-over contest where they came away with a resounding nine-wicket victory after a good all round performance.
Somerset Captain, Nick Dean won the toss and elected to bowl first. James Mayled opened the bowling for Somerset and soon found his line and length. At the opposite end Jamie Turner kept it tight and the early pressure was rewarded when Mayled claimed the first wicket and two balls later struck again.
Somerset maintained the pressure through good bowling and fielding and Dorset were eventually all out for 102 in 27 overs.
Mayled finished with two for 14 from his three overs, whilst the Somerset skipper mopped up the tail to end with two wickets for one run from his nine balls!
When Somerset responded they found runs hard to come by in the early stages of the innings. However, Mayled found the gaps well with his shots and was well supported by Dean as the pair saw the visitors to victory in the 14th over.
Mayled ended unbeaten on 45 off 39 deliveries with eight fours while Dean was 23 not out.
Somerset now travel to play Gloucestershire on July 29th where another victory would see them ending top of the South West League table.Back to News
