Pathway Parent and Player Induction Evening

The Parent and Player Induction Evening for the Somerset Cricket Board Boys Pathway was held in the Colin Atkinson Pavilion last week.

Well over 350 young players and their parents attended the event that was hosted by Academy Director, Steve Snell. During the course of the evening those present listened to input from James Always, the Pathway Strength & Conditioning Coach plus Nutritionist and Lifestyle expert Victoria Self.

Both provided practical advice to parents and players alike as to how to make sure the young cricketers can be at their best and make the most of this opportunity.

Steve Williams from the ECB talked about working effectively with the young players and covered topics such as dealing with adversity.

Matt Drakeley, the Somerset Cricket Board Head of Performance also spoke to everyone about the expectations and demands that being involved in the Somerset Pathway may make on both parents and players.

Somerset CCC Club Captain, Tom Abell took part in a question and answer session with the players in the Long Room, after which the youngsters joined their parents in the County Room.

To finish off the evening Tom was interviewed about his time in the Somerset age groups and Academy plus his transition into the Somerset First Team.
