Cooper Associates Corporate Cricket Day

On Tuesday September 17th, four teams from Cooper Associates took to the field at Taunton in two special T20 matches which were held on the hallowed turf!

The sun was shining brightly all day as Somerset County Cricket Club played host to our Ground Naming Rights Partner Cooper Associates.

Staff, clients and special guests of the St James Street based financial advisors were given a special opportunity to play cricket on the same pitch where the likes of Ian Botham, Viv Richards and Marcus Trescothick made their names.

In the first game of the day, former SCCC wicketkeeper batsman Carl Gazzard only managed a single on his return to the Cooper Associates County Ground before being dismissed, with his team eventually reaching 126 for nine in their 20 overs.

Another familiar name on the team-sheet was former SCCC player Kevin Parsons, who claimed three wickets in his four-over spell.

The teams were made up from a combination of experienced former pros, club players, social players and some who hadn’t played for years. Cooper Associates balanced their teams to ensure that everyone had an opportunity to take part with either bat or ball, giving each player their own special memories of playing on a professional sports ground.

Guests had the full matchday experience as they were granted use of the away team changing room in the player’s pavilion, along with PA announcer, music and electronic scoreboard.

Qualified umpires were provided by Somerset Cricket Board with KIA Super League winner Sophie Luff officiating on the field with the SCB Youth Development Manager Scott Chappell.

SCCC also provided catering throughout the day, including a welcome breakfast, buffet lunch and barbecue dinner.
