'Daz' to leave Somerset at the end of the season
Somerset’s strength and conditioning coach Darren Veness will be leaving the club at the end of this season.
Since he first joined the club in November 1996, ‘Daz’ has become a valued member of staff and is highly respected in his field of expertise. He will however remain in county cricket, after accepting a similar lead role at Surrey CCC.
The head of strength and conditioning said: “It’s hard to put into words how grateful I am for all the opportunities that Somerset have given us as a family since 1996, and how sad we are to be leaving. However for me to continue to progress in my field on a personal level and professional level, I must take a step away.
Chief Executive Guy Lavender said: “We shall have a good opportunity to say farewell to Daz at the end of the season but in brief we are really sad to see Daz moving on. He has made an incredible contribution to the Club over the last 21 seasons, particularly in the development of so many talented players who have benefited from his advice, expertise and superb humour. We wish Daz, Kate, Alicia and Aimée all the very best for the future.Back to News
