England Under 19 Trio Busy Preparing for Caribbean Tour

Somerset’s trio of England Under 19 players have just returned from their second training camp at Loughborough where they have been preparing for their month long tour to the West Indies later in November.

Kasey Aldridge, Lewis Goldsworthy and Sam Young all graduated from the Academy at the end of the summer and have signed full time contracts with the Club.

Sam Young explained what the trio have all been doing.

“The first camp at Loughborough was over a weekend when we underwent physical screening which included the yo-yo test among others to see where we are each at with our fitness.”

Sam went on: “This camp has focused on the physical side of things and we have spent time in the gym doing fitness activities, which has been really good. Each of us are coming back from injury so we have been able to carry on with our rehabilitation as well.

“We have also been doing some batting and bowling work with Ian Bell and John Lewis.”

“The plan is to come up to Loughborough every week for two days from Monday lunchtime until Wednesday to work on our fitness as well as working on our skills.”

Looking ahead Sam said: “Between October 22nd and 25th we have got a camp in the Lake District where we will be doing some team building. We depart for Antigua on November 27th and get back on December 23rd.”
