Exclusive Members Event - 1979 Gillette Cup Final Watchalong

Somerset County Cricket club are delighted to invite Members to an exclusive online programme as part of a series of events this winter.

Using recently obtained footage straight from the BBC archive, Somerset Members are invited to join us on Tuesday 17th November at 7pm to watch through one of the most important days in the Club’s history.

The show will last for roughly one hour and include a previously unseen digitised version of the 30 minute BBC highlights package that aired on that famous day. From the introductions by BBC presenter Peter West to Brian Rose’s post match interview, it offers a fascinating insight into the match and cricket broadcasting of the era.

Furthermore, popular local journalist Richard Walsh will be joined by Club legends Brian Rose and Vic Marks to “commentate” as the action unfolds on screen. The Club will broadcast this special show on YouTube with a private link given out beforehand.

The YouTube chat function will be open for supporters to share their memories and the broadcast will be available to watch on all devices including TV’s.

This event will be available for all 2020 donated Somerset Members, as well as Life Members and Junior Members. An email will be sent with a link to view the watchalong and will land in your inbox before 1pm on Tuesday November 17th. If you are a Member and do not receive email communication from us, please call 01823 425301.

We look forward to seeing you all for the watchalong on the November 17th.
