Fin joins the Somerset Academy
Somerset County Cricket Club are pleased to announce that Fin Hill has joined the Somerset Academy.
Fin is a 15-year-old batsman, who also bowls off spin, and plays his club cricket for Exeter. He also attends Kings College and is keen to grasp this opportunity with both hands.
“This is what I’ve been working so hard towards for the last two summers and I’m really happy,” he said. “The dream is to play for Somerset and then to hopefully go on and play for England one day.”
Head of the SCCC Talent Pathway, Steve Snell is looking forward to working with Fin. “We are excited by the progress that Fin has made over the course of the year,” he explained. “During that time Fin has evidenced that he is evolving and improving as a cricketer. In particular, his sharp and precise movements at the crease have been impressive, plus his run scoring capability has caught the eye in a variety of school, county and club cricket matches.
“He has a calm but assured temperament, and I am looking forward to working closely with Fin and Devon, our National County partner, who have been instrumental in his development to date.”
Rob Woodman, Director of Cricket at Kings College, Taunton said: “We were delighted to hear of Fin’s selection. His commitment and attitude have been excellent, and he has worked extremely hard on many aspects of his game, where he has made huge improvements. We are very proud of what he has achieved and look forward to seeing the hard work continue.”
Sandy Allen, Pathway & Coaching Manger at Devon Cricket, said: “Signing onto the Somerset Academy is a really exciting and great opportunity for Fin. He has worked tremendously hard over the last few years and developed into a high-potential player. Everyone involved in cricket in Devon is excited to see how Fin develops over the next couple of years.”
